Chapters and Interludes
Welcome to the WHY YOU LIKE IT Chapters & Interludes page!
Here are found additional and supplemental materials to the book’s content that the zealous readers among you will find valuable—diving deeper into the details on various academic, technical, and historical matters. The supplements range from short clarifications to longer explications, often with bibliographic citations. They also include a few rather extended discussions as promised in the book itself—notably the completed formal analysis of Beethoven’s “Für Elise” (Chapter 6), and the in-depth discussions of the fifth song / work that makes up the seven fictional genotypes (Chapters 9-15).
In all, each chapter and interlude is here provided with four elements:
1. Summary: a short summation of the content of each chapter and interlude
2. Supplements: a set of supplemental content, with each item correlated to a page in the hardcopy book and identified with a brief topic description
3. Principal Bibliography: a listing of key bibliographic sources referenced for the chapter or interlude, presented in the order of its relevance to the discussion
4. External Link: a set (to grow over time) of useful external web links related to the topic(s) of the chapter or interlude
